The event
The Global Counter Terrorism Council (GCTC) is an India-based civil society think tank whose mission is to prevent, combat and prosecute terrorist acts worldwide. Its 3rd Cybersecurity Conference brought together industry leaders and experts to discuss how enterprises can build resilience against cyber attacks.
The conference took place in the presence of the Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar. Rrahul spoke at the invitation of Aditya Tikoo, Founder and Convener of GCTC.
The talk
Rrahul spoke on cybersecurity in the metaverse: how it is used for training today, where it is vulnerable, and what organisations can do to protect users and their data.
Key points
Metaverse use cases
Police forces and military bases around the world are training in the metaverse and in virtual reality, using simulations of real-life combat scenarios.
Vulnerabilities in the metaverse
Weak authentication, insecure communication channels and poor coding practices can all be exploited by attackers and put user safety and privacy at risk.
Keeping users safe
Use multi-factor authentication, regular audits, encryption and secure communication channels, and teach users about cyber threats. AI-enabled training, realistic simulations, collaborative learning and greater user awareness all help counter threats in the metaverse.
Protecting data and privacy
Be transparent about data policies, obtain user consent, collect only the data you need and comply with the latest regulations.
