Virtalis' LED VR Wall in academia

Virtalis has pioneered an innovative educational tool for Regent College London, introducing the first LED immersive VR power wall in academic settings. This technology revolutionizes how complex datasets are presented and understood by students in digital technology, computing, and engineering fields. By deploying an ActiveWall solution akin to those utilized by leading global enterprises, Virtalis ensures that students gain skills directly applicable in professional environments. The Transformative Educational Digital Laboratory features a 4.86m x 2.39m ActiveWall, integrating a 1.2mm pixel pitch SiliconCore display. This setup delivers interactive experiences through Advanced Realtime Tracking (ART), allowing the virtual world to dynamically adjust to each user's perspective, enhancing immersion.

Virtalis opted for a fine pixel pitch LED display instead of traditional projection methods to enhance user and operator experiences. The 1.2mm LED display offers nearly 4k resolution, improved contrast, and up to 1200 nits brightness, ensuring detailed visualization in various ambient light conditions. Operating at 120 frames per second, the ActiveWall creates an active 3D environment where multiple users can interact simultaneously. This facilitates design reviews, hands-on training, layout planning, operations simulations, and maintenance practice.

The immersive experience is further heightened by six cameras that track users, aligning them with virtual datasets. Headtracked active 3D glasses enable users to explore models from various angles, enhancing the realism of the experience. A handheld interactive device allows users to manipulate datasets, further enhancing the multisensory immersion, complemented by a 5:1 surround audio system.

Virtalis utilizes its proprietary Visionary Render software to bring the virtual world to life, offering a 1:1 scale representation of real-life scenarios. This flexibility allows for the creation of bespoke VR scenes tailored to specific educational needs, ensuring students are equipped with practical skills for their future careers. Additionally, Virtalis collaborates with Regent College London to provide VR creator training for lecturers and supports the creation of datasets, ensuring the educational content remains relevant and impactful.
