With a focus on learning and exploration, the Children’s Gallery is a remarkable addition that enhances the overall museum experience.

Interactive Installations That Engage Young Minds

GT Road Well: A Window to the Past

One of the standout installations is the GT Road Well, where a life-sized model of a horse stands near a small trader's stop along the historic GT Road. This installation features saddlebags filled with goods and rolled carpets, inviting visitors to lift flaps and discover various trade items transported along this iconic route.

In front of the horse, a small brick well houses a hidden flat-screen display. When visitors peer into the well, they see the reflection of a traveler on the GT Road. A short video clip plays on the concealed display, sharing the story of their journey. Directional speakers ensure that visitors can clearly hear the traveler’s tale while maintaining an immersive atmosphere.

Cave Painting Interactive Experience

As visitors enter the Cave Painting Interactive Experience, they are transported into a tunnel adorned with ancient cave paintings. Here, children can express their creativity on a touch screen monitor mounted into the tunnel wall. Once they finish, their artwork is projected onto the cave wall entrance, allowing them to see their creations come to life in an imaginative setting.

Fish in the Pond: An Immersive Aquatic Adventure

In the Fish in the Pond installation, children walk across a river represented by a different colored flooring, stepping on smooth rounded stones. They encounter small fish swimming at their feet and around the stones. When they attempt to touch the fish, it playfully swims away, enhancing the interactive experience.

Creating a Meaningful Experience for Children

The Bihar Museum is dedicated to showcasing one of the richest collections of Indian art in the world. The museum's permanent collections span the history and legacy of Bihar, aiming to articulate the many layers of its antiquity and ensure this history is both seen and felt in the present.

Custom Technologies played a crucial role in the design and development of the Children’s Gallery, conducting extensive historical research, user experience analysis, and the creation of complete audio-visual content. After the initial phase of development, the team engaged in user research and feedback sessions with school kids at Kilkari School of Art & Culture in Patna. The children’s feedback was invaluable, allowing for adjustments and enhancements to the final museum installations.

A Soft Inauguration by the Chief Minister of Bihar

The Children’s Gallery was successfully inaugurated in a soft launch event at Patna, Bihar, by Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar. This event marked the beginning of a new chapter in the museum's journey, where children can immerse themselves in the stories and history of Bihar.

Conclusion: A Journey of Learning Awaits

The Children’s Gallery at Bihar Museum is more than just an exhibition; it is a journey of learning and exploration. With its engaging installations and interactive experiences, it invites children to connect with the past in a way that is both educational and fun. This innovative space promises to leave a lasting impression on young visitors, igniting their curiosity and passion for history.
