Galderma, in collaboration with Sector 5 Digital, revolutionized its anatomy training for doctors and injectors by introducing an immersive motion-based VR experience. This initiative aimed to enhance learning outcomes and ensure safe and effective injection practices for optimal patient results.

Previously, Galderma relied heavily on cadavers and training labs for injector training. However, feedback from trainees indicated that they were not retaining information effectively. To address this, Galderma saw an opportunity to integrate new adult learning principles and leverage advanced technology for a more impactful educational experience.

The solution was the creation of GIA (Galderma Interactive Anatomy), a VR experience for the Galderma Aesthetics Injector Network (GAIN). Using the HTC Vive Cosmos headset and a motion-based platform, GIA took trainees on a virtual journey through facial anatomy. The experience began with trainees being shrunk down to explore GIA's face, allowing for a closer examination of anatomical landmarks and safe injection areas.

Participants then ventured inside the face to view vasculature and muscle structures, enhancing their understanding of facial anatomy. Quiz questions throughout the experience provided interactive learning, with immediate feedback to reinforce knowledge retention. The immersive nature of the VR experience made learning memorable and enjoyable, leading to quicker application of knowledge and better retention.

Results showed a high Net Promoter Score for GIA, with 91.4% of participants expressing a willingness to recommend GAIN Anatomy Training to colleagues. Encouraged by these outcomes, Galderma plans to expand the program globally to benefit thousands of aesthetics partners.

The success of GIA was recognized with several prestigious awards, including the GOLD MM+M Award, PLATINUM Hermes Creative Award, PLATINUM MarCom Award, and nominations for the VR Awards and Eye for Pharma Awards. These accolades underscore the effectiveness and innovation of Galderma's VR training program, highlighting its potential to transform medical education.
